it was Built in the eighteenth century, the work of Ignacio Salas and Van der Borcht, was at the time the largest building outside the city walls. Its role as a tobacco factory has been immortalized in the work of Prosper Merimee Carmen, and later in the opera "Carmen". The legendary figure worked in this building. After the "Latin American Exhibition of 1929", it becomes home to the University. Highlights the sculptural work of Cayetano de Acosta in the main entrance, and the small chapel of the "Student Brotherhood" which houses a beautiful image of Christ on the Cross Juan de Mesa.

It was built to replace an old bridge of boats Almohad the twelfth century. Its architects were French engineers Steinacher and Bernadet obrándolo between 1845 and 1852. In the non-wood was used, but stone pillars and iron. It has a large containment ramp on the shore of "Triana" that reaches the street of San Jorge. In this same shore, opposite the Market Hillock, it is a small chapel designed by the modernist architect Anibal Gonzalez, popularly known as the "lighter"

In about two hours of pleasant walk have time to do a complete tour of the ruins of old houses and public buildings. we recommend you  doing the route at the entrance and leave the amphitheater for the end. You may also want to visit at night when the good weather arrives.
